I hope everyone has signed up for the CrossFit Open. It’s probably the best $20 you’ll spend all year and will grow you as an athlete like no other experience. Even if you’re a little scared, I encourage you to take a leap of faith and give it a try. I have never heard a single person sign up for the Open and regret it. However, I have listened to countless athletes bemoan that they should have signed up for the Open. This starts to happen around week two or three, when everyone sees how much fun it is and realizes they are doing the workouts anyway, so why didn’t they sign up? The first workout is released tonight, so you still have time to sign up and jump in the fun!
Here’s our schedule for when you can perform the Open workouts. The Open is five workouts, one workout per week for five weeks. Here’s the weekly schedule that will apply until April 7th.
Wednesday @ 7 PM: Open workout is announced online at games.crossfit.com
Thursday: The Open workout is the workout of the day at CrossFit Impulse for every class, all day. This is your first opportunity to complete the workout and submit your score.
Saturday @ 9 AM: We will all gather for a competitive Open event at CrossFit Impulse. This is your second chance to complete the workout.
Sunday @ 3 PM: If you missed Thursday and Saturday, or you just want another shot at improving your score, show up on Sunday at 3 PM and we’ve got you covered. Sunday Funday will still be going on as usual, but you can also complete the Open workout if needed. We don’t recommend performing the Open workout more than twice, but you can if you want, and only your best score counts.
Sunday @ 7 PM: You must submit your score online at games.crossfit.com by this deadline. Even though you are performing the workout at CrossFit Impulse, only you can log in and submit your score. If you forget to submit your score then your performance won’t count and, unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do about it. To help you remember to submit your score, we will have computers available at CrossFit Impulse for you to log in and submit as soon as you finish the workout.
After you submit your score, CrossFit Impulse will validate your score. We plan to verify all scores at the same time after the score submission deadline closes on Sunday. Only after we validate your score will it show up on the leaderboard. Don’t worry, we will validate your score. Relax.
Oh, one last thing. Don’t think that because you may be out of town for part of the Open that you can’t compete in it at all. We’ll work with you however you may need, or tell you how to get scored at your destination.
That’s it! If you have any questions, just ask here or ask one of your coaches during class.
