Topic of the week: CrossFit Games is this weekend! Who would you like to see win this year?

I want to see Rich become the first repeat champion. There's only one competitor on the field this weekend that sent me a text message after I broke my clavicle in 2011 saying "I heard you busted up your shoulder pretty bad. You OK, brother?" For that and a lot of other reasons, he gets my support. He also looks like Rambo. I would like to see Brandon Phillips get on the podium as well. He is a humble athlete that works his ass off and is a really nice dude. We also share an affinity for the Steiner Brothers from the old days of wrestling.
On the lady's side I think Julie Foucher is going to win it. She absolutely dominated her regional like no other woman, and she's got the experience to boot. Azadeh Boroumand arguably dominated her region about as well, but Foucher's experience will win out. Thorissdottir will be on the podium as well. For the first time, I think Clever will struggle to get on the podium.
All just my.02. There's really no good way to predict the large human element of this competition.

Good synopsis Jeff. If there is one constant pattern we've seen while watching the evolution of the Games it is that handicapping the field is all in how the events shake out. That may prove to be slightly different this year with the release of WODs in advance but I would be surprised if at least one "new" face didn't finish on the podium.

I wanted to see Elizabeth Akinwale do well. Unfortunately this games has not started out in her favor. I believe Rich is pretty damn close to being unbeatable, deep down inside I am pulling for Chris Spealler. I would love to see the legend do well in his "last year" at the Games.

I'm with Justin. I always enjoy seeing an underdog come in and take it all.

Rich all the way. I don't think many are in his league. But as in any sport, we'll have to wait and see.
