Time: 8:37, 175# (Sub: Parallette HSPUs)
Last time I subed Ring HSPUs with incline ones. This time I went with the parallettes because I think it will be a better progression to the rings. It was very difficult for me to get depth. The 175# DL got hard fast. It was not 85% of my 1RM but it proved to be a good weight for that many reps. The cue Jeff gave me to start moving my chest up first really helped my form. Thanks Jeff!
You’re welcome, Jordan. I’m just stoked that it worked! With your chest and hips rising simultaneously now, that’s going to take a ton of pressure off your low back, and I think your 1RM will increase accordingly.
I enjoyed our small but motivated class today. Playing around with rings and heavy barbells is always fun. Was really impressed with Lori who went 115 lb for all deadlift reps with a 135 lb 1RM.
Afterwards I did this WOD with back squat instead of deadlift. I have a solid deadlift for my body weight, but I’m not so solid on back squat. Went with 265 lb, which is 83% of my 1RM. Got first 5 unbroken (which is a 5RM PR for me). Last sets came in doubles and singles. Ring HSPUs were as Rx’d, and very difficult. First 2 sets unbroken. Last set was 2-1-1-1.
Thanks Jeff! I’m glad you motivated me to stay at 115# on my dead lifts; sometimes I need an extra push! It was fun trying out the HSPU, I’ll get it one day!
