  1. Started with back squat. Last time I did total, I got 235. This time I couldnt even get 225…not even close. I dont understand it at all. Anything involving my legs in a strength workout just doesnt seem to work…even 1 rep max. I guess some people just have to work harder than others to make gains. Lucky me. Maybe after another 2 years I’ll finally hit 300 on back squat and deadlift.

I did PR on shoulder press by 10 pounds. Got 145.

After my back squat failure I didnt even attempt deadlift today. Sometimes you just need to know when to call it a day. And today was that day, mentally and physically.

    1. Daniel, how well did you work up to 235lb? I have noticed that if I do not warm up and work my way up slower to heavy lifts. I too, will miss them. For instance I had been trying to get a 200lb deadlift for quite awhile. One day I came in and I felt good so I decided to do deadlift. At the time 195 was my 1RM. I loaded 175 on the bar and could not budge it, I drop the weight to 170 and could not get it. I then dropped the weight to 165lb and still could not complete the lift. I was extremely upset and disappointed with myself. However, I talked with Jeff and David and they both agreed that I should have worked up to that weight. Next time I did deadlift it went like this – 95lb x3, 115 x3, 135 x2, 155×2, 175×2, 185×1, 195×1, 205×1, 210(f). I would take about a week or two and then come in and try to work up slower to your lifts you want to achieve. My $0.02.

  2. Back Squat: 165,175,185
    Shoulder Press: 95,105,115f
    Dead Lift: 225,245,265

    Total: 185+105+265=555.
