“The Position Part 3: The Push-Up” with Kelly Starrett and Carl Paoli, CrossFit Journal preview video [wmv] [mov]
I shouldn’t be up this late, but I had tons of papers to grade before my students get out next week for summer break. Just wanted to say thanks for the second video on the correct way to do a push-up! I’ll be trying that for Monday’s WOD.
Good photo. If you look closely, there appears to be some type of sonic boom originating from Tyler’s direct right (left in the photo). What was going on over there?
I believe jeff was squating at such a rate the sonic boom has almost blown me off the GHD.
I think that truck just back fired.

Wasn’t easy. That is all I have to say about that.
Impressive effort from my 6:30 class tonight. I enjoyed the impromptu 100m races, mostly since I was on the instigating end and not the sprinting end. This was just a whole lot of work. Kudos to everyone who completed it in some form or another, and especially Lori for completing all 50 pushups every round despite thinking about scaling.
I did a modified version at 5:15 subbing 25 incline pushups and 25 box jumps (on the light pole) for the 50 pushups. Time-wise I think it was a fair trade, but I obviously wasn’t able to burn out my pressing power like everyone else. Time was 25:50
31:27 subbing 3/4 pood KB swings for push-ups
Had a lot of fun in the 6:30 class! Decided to lay off the push-ups since my right arm isn’t 100% yet. Tonight, competitive instigation was a bigger motivator than individual encouragement. I know Christina, Jeff, and Daniel had fun provoking and watching the chain reaction. Maybe next time, David will remember just because he runs inside the gym first does not mean he gets to his GHD first. š
I had a fun time working out with the 6:30 class tonight. Thanks for instigating races Jeff. I enjoyed racing Brittany several times. I am just glad I was able to stay in front or else I would have heard about that for a while.
I subbed Kettlebell swings for squats due to some knee pain. Time was 30:51.
A lot of fun in the 6:30 class. I tried to catch Brittany once, but I was just too tired on that 3rd round! 37:25 Rx, thanks Jeff for letting me finish after the cut-off (I think!!). Tomorrow is a much needed rest day for me!
Great 6:30 class. I subbed 25 inclined push ups and 25 box jumps on the light pole for push ups because I am trying to save my elbow. Time was 33:59. Great work out and everyone did an awesome job!
28:21 Rx’d. Push-ups slowed me down a lot and the sprints after the squats became more about not face planting on the gravel than sprinting.
27:21, subbed supermans for back extensions.
Did this one at home w/ Lisa. I was all looking forward to it until I realized it was 3 rounds. It pretty much sucked, but a great workout.
Hit the 30 minute cutoff. Had completed two rounds and 100 reps of third round. This was a nice welcome back to CFI after 8 days of no sleep and no exercise.
