CFI vs CFHSV Throwdown 2012

Throwdown 2010Attention all CFI Athletes! We need your participation in our annual fun and friendly competition with CrossFit Huntsville. Last year we had a great time, and this year we are hosting it at CrossFit Impulse on January 28th at 8:30 AM. The competition is designed to include all levels of athletes, from novice to advanced. We encourage everyone of all abilities to sign up by the deadline of January 7th at CFI! This will be a great team-building and competitive experience!

We have changed a few things this year to help create a better competition. All WODs for the competition are programmed in advance. You can look at each of the four WODs and see exactly what will be expected of you at each level. There are four ability groups: beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced. You must feel comfortable with every workout and movement at the ability level you choose. For example, if you look at WOD 1 for the intermediate level and know you cannot do pullups, that’s fine. Check out the advanced beginner level where the movement is changed to kettlebell swings, and consider signing up there. Trainers at CFI will guide you to the right ability group if you are unsure about anything. Here are the workouts.

What: Throwdown between CFI and CFHSV

When: January 28th

Time: 8:30 AM – 12:00

Where: CrossFit Impulse

Sign-Up:  Deadline January 7th. Sign-up sheets  at CFI by the window.

Lunch: We will be getting together after the competition for lunch. Location is TBA.

Why would I do this? To have fun, get exposure to a competition on a very friendly platform, and learn more about yourself. The more athletes that sign-up at each ability level the more fun it will be for everyone. We sincerely hope that you will join us in this event to help support our CrossFit family and the CrossFit community as a whole!

I just started or I don’t think I am able to compete:  This year we have four ability groups. Every CFI athlete, without exception, is capable of participating at some level. Do not be intimidated; there will be no surprises. Think of the ability groups in this way: Advanced is doing the workout as prescribed. Intermediate is doing the workout at the Gold level. Advanced Beginner is doing the workout at the Silver level. And Beginner is doing the workout at the Bronze level or below. You see this every time you workout at CFI. This competition is no different. If you have any questions please contact us at 256-361-9348 or here. We’d love to talk to you more about it.

  1. We’ll be on our honeymoon on the 28th. So sad we can’t make it to this! We’ll be cheering you on from our snowmobiles… and then maybe some more while we’re in the hot tub enjoying some wine…
