The Impulse Intramural Open, and Value Add Kind of People

Updates
CONGRATULATIONS!
- A huge shoutout to Slaughter Road Sweatshop for winning the Intramural Open! A little gaming of a system, a little controversy, we can write a documentary and set the stage for Open 2027! A special congratulations to Coach Chad for taking home the Spirit of the Open award, which might be the most meaningful trophy in the room. And to everyone who threw down in the quarterfinals workouts — you showed up, you competed, and you left it all on the floor. That’s what this is about. Great job to every single one of you. The energy in the gym for this years Open was so very good, thanks to everyone who came to play, fitness can be fun if we MAKE IT FUN. #Open2027 is loading already, looking forward to more fun next year!
- WodHopper transition Phase 1 complete- All, thank you for your efforts in making this a seamless transition! Phase 1 complete, we move onto Phase 2, which will be programming in WodHopper, and Transitioning away from SugarWod as our system of record tentatively 1 May 2026. Flexible people don’t get bent out of shape, this date is subject to change of course, cuz I’m Gumby in this flexible game.
- Internship Applications are closed- Fam, I’m so pumped to announce that our Internship is well underway, and our candidates are going to be great additions to the team! You’ll see them around in yellow shirts learning all the in’s and out’s of what makes CFI “best in class” as a CF Affiliate. (Hint, it’s not the barbells and plates, although they are cool).

PROGRAMMING NOTES
Wrapping up our Strict Press/Push Press cycle and kicking off two new cycles, and I’m fired up about both of them. First, you know it, you love it, we’re launching a strict pull-up cycle — we’re building pull-up strength with Murph locked in our sights. We build pull up horsepower at CFI, that’s our Jam, come get you some!
Second, we’re running a power clean cycle because… honestly, who doesn’t love a good power clean? It’s one of the best full-body movements out there and we’re going to get after it, with clean pull accessory, I fully expect big PC numbers at the end of this cycle. Gonna see some Payday squatting to get a barbell on our backs… April is gonna be lit, and that ain’t no fools joke.
Coffee, Ketones, and Random Gorilla Thoughts….
Are you a Value Add Kind of Person?
We train for strength not just for ourselves, but to become the person our friends, family, and coworkers can count on. To improve our utility, to be the most valuable we can be when we are called upon. The highest value add isn’t always the most skilled — it’s the person who shows up with two hands, a willing attitude, and the right resources. Nobody cares how much you can lift if you are on the sidelines while everyone else is working, Willingness, attitude, and effort are everything. Why push in the last 60 seconds of an AMRAP? Maybe you want internet points, I’m not even gonna argue that, I’m saying it’s because every rep builds the version of you that people need. When life calls, we should aspire to be the one who brings the most capability to the table.
There are people that can be counted upon. That, when asked, will show up, and be value add. We are incredibly fortunate to have a village full of them.
Be the person people want in their corner when it counts.
-Gorilla
