Coach of the Year: Chad Eade
CrossFit Impulse, meet your first-ever Coach of the Year: Chad Eade!!
Chad walked into CFI as a member in September 2022 and started coaching in February 2024. Since then he’s been all over the schedule. Early mornings, evenings, wherever the gym needs him, Chad shows up
How he won (before anyone knew there was a contest):
This year we rolled out our new Coach Performance Excellence Program. Coaches are scored on three things: class evaluations, an owner evaluation, and class volume. While we built the program over the last six months, I quietly ran it in the background on the previous year to test it.
He didn’t win by campaigning for it, (Politics season amirite? anyone else tired of commercials about politics?) because nobody knew it was happening. He won by doing the work, day in and day out, and had no idea anyone was keeping score. He exemplifies what I ask of coaches, to be “a member squared“.
Members Squared
I define coaches at CFI as Members Squared. Chad lives it. He leans into every need of the gym, every single day. He does all of it on top of family demands, and his “big chicken” media responsibilities at his full-time job. (Seriously, ask Chad about chickens and eggs. He knows all the things.)

What comes with the Title
For the next year, Chad will be wearing the Gold Shirt of Glory. He’s also getting a pile of comp and swag, AND…. ANNNNDDDD…. He’ll also help evaluate our coaches for 2027 Coach of the Year under the new criteria. So when you see him in the back of class with an IPAD in hand, you know wassup.
Random Gorilla Thoughts: Members, 2x Members, and Members Squared

Still reading? look at you! Reading and stuff… good! time for a little Random Gorilla thoughts about the three types of members that make up the House of the Gainz…
Members: you show up to class, put in the work, and make this place what it is. you rep the set to your friends, co-workers, you live the ethos. You police up after yourself and others, encourage each other, partner, and celebrate your fellow tribes people with enthusiasm. Without you, this thing of ours, is not possible. Thank you.
2X Members: Do all that and then some. LC recently volunteered to chop down the Damn Crate Myrtle tree on the 200M course that REFUSES TO DIE. Beth Scavarda and several others use the keys on the holder and restock paper towels when they are empty. These people care for the House of Gainz like it’s their own. There are countless examples, and they don’t go unnoticed. From special projects to the everyday mundane, these folks keep the operation smooth and functional.
Members Squared: Our coaches. They’re members first, and then they give back twice over. They take care of the people and the place. They make all of this possible, and it’s not a simple thing. If you don’t see or understand how much they do for a part time gig, kinfolk, take my word for it, they do more for you and I than can possibly be put into words.
I spend my days in an attitude of gratitude, for each and every one of you, that falls into each and every one of these categories. and speaking of thank yous, rounding out the thank you’s with who we started with, When you see Chad in his gold shirt, congratulate him. He earned it!!
L-1 challenge still ongoing:
Link is here, no one has decided it’s worthwhile to do this. Damn shame that all this knowledge is right in front of you and $100 ain’t worth it. Guess I’ll just leave this here in case someone wants to play along.
