Deadlift was slow for me this morning. Box jumps were an exercise in coordination, my legs felt slow and heavy. Pullups were the best thing for me this morning. Able to keep the rep sets at 7 or above.
Hard workout as it should be. Bring your game face for this one.
Did some strength work this evening:
Power Clean 5×3 (set PR)
Strict pullups 3x sets at max reps
Power Clean: 165, 175, 185, 195, 215
I didn’t really know how to scale the weight during these sets for power clean. I don’t know my 1RM so I tried to gauge it during the warm up and by the max on the leaderboard, I think it was 225.
Happy with how I did on this today. 215 was near my limit, as the 3rd rep I almost failed on but was able to get under it just barely. Really feeling it in my wrists now.
Strict pullups were difficult after today’s WOD and also trying to keep myself from kipping or flailing about to get more reps. I tried to keep my body as still as possible.
Strict pullups: 17, 16, 10
My goal was to get as close to 17 on the 2nd and 3rd sets. Got close on the 2nd set, the 3rd set I was just fatigued and let myself hang for a bit to let myself rest and try twice for rep 11, but it wasn’t happening.
Jeff was pretty intimidating with his 100+ lb. weighted pullups. Another hard working class this evening. I was trying to stay out of the way in the corner while everyone was pouring themselves out during this WOD.
35:00 – DNF (attempted rx’d reps/weight)
I hit the 35 minute cutoff. I completed 10 pullups in the fifth round. The deadlifts destroyed me. This was a rough one. Thanks for the lesson in taping, Christina.
I had a bronze/silver kinda day today. I used a 145lb weight for Dead lift and the 24″ box for the jumps.
5 Rounds
12x Dead lift
15x Box Jump
20x Pullups (green band assist)
Completed in 19:37
I was the exact opposite of Russel. Deadlift felt fine. box jumps good and pull ups were rough. Blue bands for 3 rds and then green. My grip was trashed. I could barely hold on. 29:30 with the bands.
uuuuggghhhh…. (that’s me groaning)
29:11 (I knew that if it took Kristan Clever 16 mins to do it, I would be here all day)
12 reps- 115# DL
15 reps- 18″ box jump
18 reps- blue band assisted pull-ups
My deadlift was rough. The last time I had to do lots of reps of deadlifts, I think I stuck with about 95#, so I wanted to increase that for sure. The 115# was hard and I know I lost my form toward the end, but I’m glad I stuck with the weight.
On the plus side, I did my warm up pull-ups without a band! Applause!
Yay Erin on the warm up pull-ups band free!!
Thanks, girl! First time ever since joining in June! (p.s. we need to meet since I only know you as a cyber crossfitter 😉
Made it through 7 pullups in the fourth round, all movements as prescribed. Tough, tough workout.
22:48
5 rounds
12 X 115 DL
15 X 16″ box jumps
18 Green band pull-ups with one set of blue+green.
I sucked on this one. DNF’d after 4 rounds. Just couldn’t get the weight up at the start of the 5th. I thought I had conservatively scaled with 185 lb, and 12, 15, 15 reps, respectively.
It’ll come around again and we’ll both be able to finish it by then.
26:28 Gold

Five rounds in 24:44 of
15 reps of 95# dead lift
20 reps of 18″ box jump
15 reps of pull ups with blue bands
Way to go Sarah for doing your first Crossfit workout! You are going to love it! Great job everyone at the 6:15 WOD!
28:45 Rx’d
I felt a little pukie on this one. I also had a few words with the deadlift bar. Was not feeln it today. It just blows my mind to think of Kristan Clever doing this in 16:29. I guess she is the fittest female in the world…
Today was my first workout!
I completed 5 rounds in 25:25 of
10 reps of 95# dead lift
15 reps of 12″ box jump
20 reps of ring row pull ups
Thanks to everyone in the 6:15 class for all their support!
You did awesome!!
Great 5:00 class! Kudos to Grant for pushing through this one under fatigue!
22:01 (scaled)
I subbed 12 dead hang pullups. Decided on round 2 that wasn’t enough so I did 15 for rounds 3-5. Still letting shoulder heal.
Tough workout and a lot of people working very hard! Great job everyone at the 5 o’clock! I had to scale pull ups again for this one, but I think I scaled too much. But I didn’t have that opinion until I started kipping out of necessity. First time doing that without shoulder pain and pull ups became much easier. Next time I won’t be so easy on myself and I’ll try to do pull ups as prescribed. The deadlifts felt good and I was able to make it through the first 3 rounds without letting go of the bar. Took my time on deadlifts in rds 4&5 after David gave me some pointers on my form, so I tried to do them with the best form as I understand it. It may sound sick but I actually liked this wod.
Did the gold version of “Roy”:
145lb deadlift, 15 reps
18″ box jumps, 20 reps
pullups, 20 reps
Time: 30:00
31:50 rx’d
I prepared my bar so I could easily scale down from 225 if my deadlifts started to fail. Surprisingly, I managed to stay at 225 the whole WOD by simply keeping a nice steady pace doing single pulls, and making up time on the box jumps and pullups. Tough WOD, but really enjoyed the satisfaction of completing this one rx’d.
Worked alongside Christina doing the Gold scale. Hands were ripped to shreds by the 2nd round of pull-ups, so I called it quits after the 4th round. Thanks Christina for helping me during the WOD with form and technique through the deadlifts and also to those pushing me through those painful pullups. It would be much harder getting through the workout without that motivation and encouragement!
