Clean and Jerk Clinic
May 14th @ 9 am
This second class in the Clean and Jerk series will take place on May 14th at 9 am.  This class is more advanced and will build upon fundamentals learned in your first clinic. Therefore, to sign up for this clinic, you must have previously attended any of our Clean and Jerk clinics.  This clinic is free and open to all CFI athletes; however, if you sign up and do not show up there will be a $5 charge to your account.  There is a 20 athlete limit and the sign up sheet is on the counter at CFI.  There are still a few spots available so don’t miss out!

Protocol Power Challenge
May 28th @ CrossFit Protocol
This is a powerlifting meet where you will compete in the back squat, bench press, and deadlift. There are weight classes and age groups all the way through masters. You don’t have to be a big lifter to take part. If you’ve ever been curious about competing in barbell sport for fun, this would be a great way to learn how a powerlifting meet works.

Memorial Day WOD
Memorial Day Murph Experience
Join us again this Memorial Day for the workout Murph at 4pm. Last year we all had a great time experiencing some unexpected antics put on by a psychotic ginger boat-captain wearing a gas mask. This year the boat-captain returns, and it’s going to be even bigger and better. If you only attend one workout this year, this should be it.

Wave WODs at Point Mallard
June 11th
This event is hosted by CrossFit Protocol and will take place at Point Mallard!  If that sounds fun then this is the event for you!  All the events are in the water and it will be a blast!  Click the link below to sign up.

Ocoee White Water Rafting Trip
June 25th in Ocoee TNCrossFit Impulse athletes, family, and friends are invited to the Ocoee River for a rafting and camping trip with Cascade Outdoors.  Any children who are rafting must be at least 12 years old.  Camping is optional on-site with Cascade and there are several nice hotels within fifteen minutes for anyone who wants to stay the night, but does not like camping.  Anyone who wants to come and camp without rafting is welcome as well.
We will have more details and a sign-up sheet coming soon.
Upcoming Training

During May we’ll complete our Strongman Saturday series and finish the month with a couple special events before starting our next training block. Then in June, it’s time to sprint again! This block was so much fun last year that this year I’ve extended it to eight weeks. And like last year, we’ll be sprinting on Mondays to start your week off right.

In the late summer and early fall we’ll be focusing on shoulder strength through two training blocks on push press and bench press.

During this time of year I often see athletes trying to lose weight by adding more running to their training or by cherry-picking only the long, light workouts at the gym. I understand their motivations, but that isn’t the best way to achieve the goal of getting lean. Unfortunately, body composition is controlled almost exclusively by your nutrition. Sure, you can get some small, short-term results by running or biking yourself into catabolic hell. But those small results won’t last once you remove the volume, and you’ll have made yourself weaker through the process. Plus– you can get the fastest, most long-lasting results by modifying your nutrition. That’s right, the goal of leaning out begins to happen very quickly once you modify your nutrition, and it almost refuses to begin at all until you do. If you want specific help with any of your goals, all of us at CrossFit Impulse are happy to help you. I admire anyone that’s willing to put time and effort into a physical goal, especially weight loss. I don’t want to see anyone go down a road that doesn’t lead to success, so I’d be remiss if I didn’t give you a few words of advice.Be on the Lookout for Information
