  1. If you could have heard the flurry of f-words inside my car as I read this one on the way home. Everything was fine until the 70 burpees.

  2. I had a similar reaction when I got to the 70 burpees as well. I was reading down the list of movements thinking to myself, “a single iteration of this? That’s easy.” Then, I saw the kicker…burpees.

Did this at CrossFit Huntsville with Karen, Kevin, and Jake. As is sometimes the case on the right workout, it was a close race between Kevin and I. I partitioned HSPUs into 20-5-3-2. Got up ~10-12 seconds on him out of HSPUs. Kept that lead through pullups (partitioned 30-10). He almost ran me down on KB swings (partitioned 20-10-10-10) and I went to situps with ~5-7 second lead. He caught me on situps by doing 60 unbroken. (I partitioned 25-~7- then who the hell knows). We went to burpees at the same time. I thought he would beat me because our work pattern for burpees is very different. Kevin grinds through at a steady pace, never stopping. After fatigue sets in I do 3-5, pause for recovery, and then do 3-5 again at a slightly faster pace. I really pushed the last 17 burpees and managed to finish first by a narrow margin.

Jake and Karen really performed well too. It’s always fun to see a woman knock out pullups like nobody told her it’s supposed to be difficult.

BTW: underhand (supine) grip knees to elbows. Try them. My KTEs just got 30% faster. It’s going to be a blessing alternating grips during bouts of KTEs. Don’t know why I never thought of this. Thanks, Russell.

  4. I did my HSPUs off a chest high bar and went down to 1 pood for the KB swings. Other than that, everything was as Rx’d. Time was 24:14

REALLY struggled on the HSPU’s. Took me way to long.

Was chasing Tristan on the burpees. Wanted to catch up but it didnt quite happen. Thanks for the encouragement at the end, bro.

And congrats to David on the new nickname……David “HSPU” Clem. Hey, its better than Rib Flare.

  6. Two awesome classes tonight. Great work on the squad pushups during the warmup. Was fun to see everyone work together and make them work. Davey really sped through this one as did David, who did his initial 30 HSPUs unbroken. Great accomplishment, brother.

As expected, the burpees were most difficult for me. I also struggled with grip on KB swings. Thanks for all the positive words from everyone about my HSPUs. It was an unexpected accomplishment. My reps were partitioned as follows:
    HSPU – 30 unbroken
    Pull-ups – 20-10-10
    KB Swings – 20-10-10-10 (I think…I know I didn’t do less than 10 consecutive)
    Situps – 50 (at slow pace but steady) – 7 – 2- 1
Burpees – 10 and then I have no idea.

I enjoyed working out with the 6:15 crew. You guys are fun! I like the Daniel vs. Tristan competition.

  8. Daniel it is all about pushing our brothers and I really enjoyed pushing 11 extra burpees out with you. It’s always a blast to have someone chasing me or to chase someone. The only reason I finished when I did was your encouragement.

David “HSPU” Clem one day me and Daniel will be chasing you. And I look forward to it as much as you do.

Goal was to keep it under 20 minutes… this was tough.
15 HSPU – with one AB mat — able to do the first 5 unbroken after that they were done in sets or three, two, or one.
    40 pullups – first 10 unbroken
    50 Kettlebell swings – first 10 unbroken
    60 – first 35 unbroken
70 – just got them done however I could
